LEAGUE RULES

1. The Derbyshire Pub Quiz League is referred to below as the DPQL.

2. The purpose of the DPQL is to organise a Quiz League and other quiz based competitions for licensed premises in Derbyshire and the immediate surrounding area.

3. The league consists of “Divisions” of up to twelve teams. The Divisions are grouped into geographical “Areas”.

4. The management of the DPQL is undertaken by a Committee comprising President, Vice Presidents, Chair, Vice Chair, General Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretaries, Auditor and two representatives from each Area.

5. All positions on the Committee are confirmed by a vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Voting for Area Representatives is restricted to teams from that Area.

6. The Match Secretary for each Area is responsible for publishing League Tables with a maximum interval of four weeks.

7. The AGM is held between May and October of each year. Other Committee Meetings are arranged by the Committee. Area Meetings are arranged by the Area Representatives.

8. An extraordinary General Meeting may be convened by the Committee, or by any five teams. In the latter case, the reason for the meeting must be notified to the General Secretary in advance and in writing.

9. The Chair, Vice Chair, General Secretary, Match Secretaries and Treasurer may arbitrate on any point of dispute.

10. A team may appeal to the Committee as a whole regarding a decision given according to rule 9.

11. The decision of the Committee is final, except as covered by Rule 8.

12. Proposals for change to the League or Quiz Rules are only accepted if presented to the Area concerned and submitted in writing to the General Secretary at least 14 days prior to the AGM. Amendments to motions may be raised at the AGM and voted upon as decided by the Chair.

13. Each registered team is entitled to send two voting delegates to the AGM. Others entitled to vote are Committee members, Area Representatives and Match Secretaries. Votes are taken by a show of hands. The Chair has the casting vote.

14. There are perennial trophies for some divisions which are awarded for one year only and then returned to the Committee. Other awards are at the discretion of the Committee.

15. Honorariums may be offered to the Chairperson, General Secretary, Treasurer and County Match Secretary, the sum being decided retrospectively at the AGM.

16. The League fees are to be paid no later than the AGM. Teams not complying may be expelled from the League at the discretion of the Committee.
